Third suspect charged in 2019 death of Kitchener man

Closure is one step closer for the family of Jason John Brown.

Wellington County OPP say they’ve charged a third suspect in connection with the kidnapping and homicide of the 43-year-old Kitchener man.

It was back in March of 2019 when Brown was abducted from the Harriston Cemetery in Harriston, Ont.

His body was found the next day by Durham Region Police, north of Whitby on Stevenson Road.

In November of 2023, police charged two suspects in connection with the investigation, identified as Joshua Alexander Drumond, 32, from Edmonton and Steven Jon Walsom-Gerigs, 33, from Brantford.

Now, Wellington County OPP have charged a 30-year-old man from north Wellington, Travis Willard Wand, with the following offences:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Assault with a Weapon (two counts)
  • Kidnapping
  • Theft Over $5,000 – Vehicle
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Obstruct Justice (two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear in a Guelph courtroom on September 21.
