Terrier found with ‘severe’ wounds is now up for adoption

Toto, a four-year-old terrier mix, is now up for adoption at the Cambridge District Humane Society (CDHS).

She was found June 11 by the organization in extremely poor condition.

“While we don’t generally post graphic content, we wanted to share Toto’s story in its entirety,” the humane society said in a Facebook Post showing images of the wounds Toto had.

She was found running through the streets, injured and scared. She had “severe lacerations” to her neck and was treated at the Holliday Veterinary Clinic, the post reads.

The pain from her injury was so intense, the clinic needed to put her under to treat her. They found an embedded collar in her next and a lack hair tie lodged in her mouth that had rotted through the soft tissue, which were connected to the wound on the top of her head.

Thankfully the team was able to rehabilitate Toto and she is now available for adoption.

This comes after a disturbing trend the organization is seeing where animals are abandoned and found in rough conditions.
