Rangers announce schedule for 2024-25 regular season

The Kitchener Rangers have announced their full schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 regular season.

It’ll be the club’s 62nd season in the Ontario Hockey League.

On Thursday the Rangers announced the team will open the season Sept. 27 at home against the Erie Otters. Kitchener will play their first road game Sept. 28 in Windsor.

Key promotional dates for the Rangers include:

  • Home opener Sept. 27 vs. Erie Otters (7 p.m. puck drop)
  • Remembrance Day game Nov. 8 vs. Soo Greyhounds (7 p.m. puck drop)
  • Teddy Bear Toss game Dec. 3 vs. Brantford (7 p.m. puck drop)

Kitchener will announce its full promotional calendar at a later date.

The first Highway 7 rivalry matchup will come Oct. 6 with Guelph visiting Kitchener. The Rangers will play a three-in-three that weekend as well when they are home to Flint Oct. 4, on the road in Owen Sound Oct. 5 and home to Guelph to round out the weekend.

The first big road swing the Rangers will embark on comes the third week of the season. Oct. 9 in Flint, Oct. 11 in Sault Ste. Marie and Oct. 12 in Saginaw against the defending Memorial Cup champions.

The first Eastern Conference team that the Rangers will see comes when Niagara visits the Aud on Oct. 18. Their first trip to an Eastern Conference opponent is Nov. 10 when they travel to Oshawa to take on the Generals.

The second-round playoff rematch from the 2024 OHL playoffs against the London Knights will come Tues. Nov. 19 when London visits the Aud.

Kitchener will be back up north for a shorter road trip Dec. 29 in Sudbury and Dec. 31 in North Bay.

The Rangers busiest month will be January, when they play 13 games in total. Six games on home ice and seven games on the road. That stretch includes Jan. 25 in Erie, Jan. 29 in Sault Ste. Marie and Jan. 31 in Flint.

The Rangers will travel to Brampton for their first OHL game since the 2012-13 regular season. Brampton will host Kitchener from CAA Centre Jan. 18 after the Rangers are set to host the Steelheads Jan. 10.

Kitchener will round out their season schedule Mar. 15 in Owen Sound, Mar. 18 hosting London, Mar. 21 hosting Owen Sound and Mar. 23 on the road in Guelph.

Twenty-two of the 23 Fridays the Rangers will play will be on home ice. The only Friday road game will be Jan. 31 in Flint. Seven games will be played on a Tuesday night on home ice while five games will be played on a Sunday at the Auditorium.
