Dive Bar in Uptown Waterloo permanently closes

By Erin Anderson

It’s another blow to the local nightlife scene as Dive Bar permanently closes.

The Uptown Waterloo bar and music venue shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday.

The post said that Dive Bar has closed its doors for good and, “Unfortunately we didn’t get to have a last drink with y’all.”

The post went on to say, “Thank you all so much for all the love and support from all the staff here.”

Dive Bar first opened five years ago at 85 King Street North, where Failte Irish Pub used to be.

A notice of lease termination has been posted to Dive Bar’s doors.

It reads in part, “Take notice that your landlord hereby terminates your commercial tenancy of the above premises.”

The notice cited a “breach of lease” for rent, late fees, taxes, and other expenses.

The notice is dated May 14.

It comes after a similar notice was posted just down the road around a month ago at 24 King Street North, which was home to Erb and Culture nightclub for five years.
