Waterloo Regional Police have once again raided the FunGuyz stores in Kitchener and Cambridge, seizing magic mushrooms and laying charges.
Police say the Thursday raids hit the two locations — on King Street East in Preston, and at Victoria Street South and Park Street in Kitchener.
Officers seized what they call “a large quantity of psilocybin (magic mushrooms) in various forms”, but they don’t offer any specifics.
They also seized Canadian cash.
A 19-year-old woman and a 32-year-old woman from Cambridge were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and fail to comply with undertaking.
Only one of them was held for a bail hearing.
This comes after previous raids on the same magic mushroom stores in April this year, and after the Cambridge store was raided in November of last year, and again in January.
And the FunGuyz store in Richmond Hill was raided by York Regional Police this week, with two men in their 20s arrested and charged with trafficking and possession offences.
YRP say their officers seized $63,000 worth of drugs.
Waterloo Regional Police reiterated in a statement that “the sale (trafficking) of psilocybin is a criminal offence under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), as psilocybin is categorized as a Schedule III controlled substance.”
