More arrests made after large amounts of magic mushrooms seized at Kitchener and Cambridge businesses

Police have charged a man and woman from Cambridge after illegal drugs were seized from two local businesses.

On April 13, Waterloo Regional Police’s Direct Action Response Team completed search warrants at FunGuyz Mushrooms, businesses in the areas of Victoria St. South and Park St. in Kitchener and King St. East and Waterloo St. North in Cambridge.

Police seized large amounts of magic mushrooms in different forms and cash from the businesses.

A 23-year-old Cambridge man and a 32-year-old Cambridge woman were arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The pair are scheduled to appear in court in May.

Less than a week ago, on April 11, the same pair of businesses were raided by police.

At that time, a large amount of magic mushrooms in various forms were seized by police, and a 36-year-old man from Kitchener and a 19-year-old Cambridge man were charged.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service emphasized that the sale of magic mushrooms, a Schedule III controlled substance, is a criminal offence.

“Businesses engaged in selling these products are operating unlawfully, and the substances they offer are neither regulated nor subject to standardized quality control measures,” Waterloo Regional Police said in a press release.
