Rangers sign first-round pick from 2024 OHL Priority Selection

The Kitchener Ranges have announced the signing of their first-round draft pick from the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.

Forward Evan Headrick was selected 15th overall by the Rangers.

“We are excited to welcome Evan and his family to the Rangers,” General Manager Mike McKenzie, said. “We feel his character, work ethic, speed, hockey sense, and skill will give him a chance to be a special player here.”

Headrick grew up in a small town just outside of Sault Ste. Marie in Garden River. He moved away from his hometown at a young age to play hockey in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). He played for the Oakville Rangers. His older brother Owen Headrick played for the Erie Otters in 2017.

“Ever since I’ve been young, I’ve dreamed of this moment,” Headrick said. “Especially since watching my older brother do it, I’ve been visualizing myself signing and now that it’s happened it’s been a dream come true.”

He was a key player for the Oakville Rangers in winning the 2024 OHL Cup. Headrick scored six goals and added five assists in seven games played.

Headrick will wear number 81 for the Kitchener Rangers.
