Car rallies planned across Waterloo Region demanding a ceasefire in Gaza

To mark six months since the beginning of the ongoing war in Gaza, multiple rallies are being held on Sunday across Waterloo Region.

Ralliers will gather in their vehicles at 99 Seagram Drive in Waterloo, Conestoga College’s Waterloo Campus, and Arabesque’s Family Restaurant in Kitchener at 2 p.m. to protest what the group is calling “Israel’s genocide against the people of Gaza.”

The rallies are being organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement, Roads 2 Liberation, Guelph for Palestine, the Canadian Palestinian Social Association, and more.

Through the rallies, the groups are calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, an arms embargo, an end to Canadian complicity in Israeli war crimes, the lifting of the blockade in Gaza, an end to Israeli occupation, and the release of all Palestinian political prisoners.

Similar rallies are being held in Hamilton, Oakville, Mississauga, Guelph, Windsor, and London.
