Special weather statement in effect for spring storm bringing rain, strong winds, snow

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A mixed bag of weather conditions is in store as a special weather statement is in effect for an early spring storm.

Environment Canada said there’s the potential for 15 to 25 mm of rain Tuesday into Wednesday.

Strong winds will also develop Tuesday night and gusts could exceed 80 km/h.

The winds should ease Wednesday night but in the interim, isolated power outages will be possible.

The rain is expected to transition to snow sometime late Wednesday and several centimetres of accumulation will be possible into Thursday morning.

The Grand River Conservation Authority said no significant flooding is expected from the weather system but flows will remain elevated across the watershed.
