GRCA monitoring watershed as wet weather system moves in

By Erin Anderson

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is on alert as a wet weather system is expected this week.

The GRCA said about 40 to 50 mm of rain could fall Tuesday into Wednesday.

The rainfall will lead to increased river flows throughout the Grand River watershed.

The GRCA said flows in local waterways will be higher than normal for this time of year. Adjacent banks are also slippery and pose a serious hazard.

The public is being reminded to use extreme caution and keep kids and pets away from all watercourses.

While no significant flooding is expected from this week’s heavy rain, the GRCA said there will be an increased risk in low-lying, flood-prone areas.
