Rangers extend assistant general manager to multi-year deal

The Kitchener Rangers have announced Monday that Assistant General Manager, Michael Zsolt has agreed to a multi-year contract extension.

Zsolt first joined the Rangers in 2017 where he was the team’s director of analytics. He was then promoted shortly after to director of hockey operations. In 2021, Zsolt took on the assistant general manager role.

“Michael has done a great job providing value to our organization in a number of important areas. A lot of the work he does is behind the scenes and doesn’t get the recognition it deserves publicly but it is very important to the team internally,” said General Manager Mike McKenzie in a team release. “We are excited and happy that he will continue to be a key part of our hockey operations staff moving forward.”

Part of Zsolt’s duties include hockey operations, scouting, player recruitment, team management and player development. He continues to lead the application of analytics to all areas of hockey ops.

“I am extremely excited to continue building towards bringing a championship to Kitchener,” said Zsolt in a team release. “We are all fortunate to be part of this organization and to contribute to its success. I am most proud of the group of staff and players that make up this club, and of the culture we have built. Thank you to Mike McKenzie, Joe Birch, and the Rangers organization for this opportunity.”
