Motorcyclist hurt in Gore Road crash, charged with drunk driving

A motorcyclist was hit and then charged with drunk driving after a late-night crash just outside of Cambridge.

Regional police closed Gore Road for several hours in the Shellard Side Road area due to the crash Wednesday night.

Shortly after 11 p.m., police were called to the crash in North Dumfries township.

Officers say a teenage driver was travelling on Shellard Side Road. When he went to turn left on Gore Road, he ran into a motorcyclist, heading east on Gore.

The crash knocked the 29-year-old motorcyclist off his bike. He was sent to an out-of-region hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Kitchener man on the bike is now facing a few charges, including drunk driving.

The 17-year-old Cambridge teen behind the wheel of the other involved vehicle was not injured.

If you saw the crash or have any dash-cam footage, you’re being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
