Expansion of Preston Auditorium has now started

Site preparation work for the Preston Auditorium is nearing completion – and with that, construction can now begin to start expanding the facility.

If all goes to plan, the facility will be fully operational by fall 2025.

In November, Cambridge city council members gave the contract to renovate and expand the Preston Auditorium to Ball Construction Ltd in Kitchener.

“This is a watershed moment for Cambridge, creating another space for our community to provide a wide variety of recreation opportunities to residents of all ages,” said Cambridge Mayor Jan Liggett..  “Access to recreation opportunities is so important to the health and wellbeing of our residents.”

The project in total cost about $33 million to renovate and expand the auditorium.

The facility, once completed, will include a new NHL sized ice pad, and includes new seating, changerooms, accessible washrooms and office space.

The existing ice pad and change rooms will be renovated as well.

Construction started last fall and the city is expecting it to take two years to finish.
