Dog found safe after carjacking in Cambridge

A dog and owner have been reunited after the pet went missing following a carjacking in Cambridge.

Waterloo Regional Police announced on Thursday afternoon that a vehicle was stolen from the Dickson Street area.

Officers were able to recover the stolen vehicle but a dog, who was inside a crate in the car at the time of the theft, was not immediately found.

Police started searching for the dog and said it may have been left around the Grand River in the Galt and Preston areas.

The animal was described as a brown and white American Bulldog.

Police confirmed shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday that the dog was located and returned to its owner.

One person was taken into custody in connection with the carjacking.
