The return of the orange scooters! Neuron Mobility rentals return the Spring

The orange is coming back to the streets of Waterloo Region in April, with the return of Neuron Mobility e-bike and scooter rentals.

A statement from the Region said their service plan for 2024 includes expanding the service area and station locations.

There’s also going to be a focus on the rules and etiquette of riding the Neuron vehicles around the tri-cities.

And a focus on where to park the bikes and scooters, and to make sure users are complying with those rules.

Regional councillor Colleen James, who is Chair of Planning and Works Committee, said, “I look forward to seeing ridership and the network continue to grow.”

Public feedback about the rental service can be submitted through the Region’s Engage Page.

According to the Region’s statistics, in the first year of the service in 2023, 46,000 people rented the scooters and e-bike for 190,000 trips, riding a combined distance of 360,000 kilometres.

The service pumped $8.2-million dollars into the economy.

And all those rides kept 12 tonnes of carbon dioxide out of the environment.

A specific start date in April for the service has not been given.
