66-year-old cyclist dies after Kitchener crash

A cyclist has been pronounced dead after they were struck by an SUV in Kitchener.
The crash happened Monday night around 9:45 p.m. on Victoria Street North.
Following the collision, the cyclist was sent to an out-of-region hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
On Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed the 66-year-old Kitchener man died as a result of those injuries.
Both lanes of traffic on Victoria Street North between Frederick Street and Forfar Avenue were closed overnight while police investigated, but the area reopened early Tuesday morning.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service Traffic Services Unit is continuing to investigate. Anyone who may have been a witness, has dashcam footage or has information on the crash is asked to call police at 519-570-9777, extension 8856.
