Waterloo Region was onboard with dry January this year

The region apparently understood the assignment and embraced the tradition of starting the year free of alcohol. Kitchener-Waterloo has made Uber Eats list of top cities in Canada that ordered the least amount of alcohol through the app during January.

Ahead of Fall Off February, Uber Canada assembled a few different lists that stack up which cities were better at Dry January. It also shows which cities are ordering healthy, as well as which cities ordered the least amount of late-night Uber rides. Kitchener-Waterloo did not make the list for the latter.

This area did however, rank eighth on the list of cities ordering the least amount of alcoholic beverages during Dry January, followed by Ottawa and the Niagara Region. Winnipeg made first on that list.

It seems this area has been trying to start the New Year off by embracing health and wellness.

Uber Eats Canada placed Kitchener-Waterloo high up on the list of cities ordering the most from the healthy category, coming in third right after London and the Niagara Region.

This area also ranked tenth for cities that ordered the most juice cleanses or smoothies in the past month.

Uber Eats Canada also put out their fifth annual Uber Eats Craving Report at the start of December. It said, “the volume of alcohol orders on Uber Eats from July 2023 to January 2024 highlights the rise of orders over the holidays and decline in the New Year.”

The most popular alcoholic beverages being ordered through the app during that time were vodka and beer. With whiskey pouring in at number 3.

On a bit of a different list, Kitchener-Waterloo came in fourth on cities that ordered the most cannabis edibles from the Uber Eats app. Toronto came in first on that list, followed by Vancouver and Victoria.
