Public meeting planned for new development at former lands of Preston Springs Hotel

The City of Cambridge is looking for public input on a housing development that could bring new life to the lands of the former Preston Springs Hotel.

The lands are located at 102 Fountain Street South, 199 Abraham Street, and 134 and 144 Fountain Street North.

Designs for the development show it will feature three residential towers, ranging from 22 storeys to 26 storeys. It will house 753 units with 673 parking spots located under the buildings. Amenities include an outdoor space, an arboretum and an outdoor running track behind one of the buildings.

The meeting is scheduled for February 5 at Cambridge City Hall, 50 Dickson Street in the Bowman Room, from 6-8 p.m. No decisions will be made at the meeting, and city staff as well as the developer, will be available for questions.

The Preston Springs Hotel was demolished in December 2020 due to ongoing safety issues. It’s heritage designation was removed by the city in September 2022. It was first built in 1888.

Council will meet on February 27 to go over the recommendations.

The designs for the development can be found here.
