Police make multiple arrests at illegal magic mushroom dispensary in Cambridge

Police officers searched an illegal magic mushroom dispensary in Cambridge on Wednesday night and made multiple arrests.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) confirmed Thursday that three people were arrested in the bust and they were charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

“Investigators seized a large quantity of suspect psilocybin (magic mushrooms) in various forms and Canadian currency,” read a statement from WRPS.

The FunGuyz dispensary was already the subject of a police raid back in November, less than two weeks after the storefront on King Street East first opened its doors.

One person was arrested and charged at the time of that raid but that didn’t deter the owners of the location, as they reopened the dispensary the very next day.

The dispensary has been operating without a business licence as selling magic mushrooms remains illegal.

A request has been sent to the business’ operators for comment on the latest seizure. A phone call made to FunGuyz confirmed the Cambridge location is expected to reopen on Saturday.
