Staffing shortages heavily delay Flair Airlines Las Vegas to Kitchener flight

A frustrating day for airplane passengers looking to travel to Waterloo Regoin this week.
Flair Airlines’ Las Vegas to Kitchener flight, scheduled to depart at 6:55 Tuesday morning, was delayed over thirteen hours due to what the company called staffing shortages at their fuel provider.
In a statement sent to CityNews 570, COO Maciej Wilk says the lack of staff led to crew “time-outs” which meant passengers had to wait all day to even board the plane, as the crew waited for fuel.
“Our primary focus remains to ensure that all passengers reach their final destination safely and with minimal further delay. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.”
The company said passengers were contacted through email and text, and were given meal and hotel vouchers.
If you were on that flight, the company said additional compensation is possible, adding that they will be sending you an email with the details.

“We are incredibly sorry to passengers affected by the delayed Las Vegas to Kitchener-Waterloo flight. The delay was caused by staffing shortages at our fuel provider, ultimately leading to crew time-outs while awaiting fuel. Our team has been working to resolve the situation swiftly and we’re pleased to confirm that passengers have boarded and the flight is preparing for takeoff.
Upon learning about the delay, we promptly notified passengers via email and SMS, maintaining timely communication updates as new information became available. Understanding the inconvenience caused, we also provided meal and hotel vouchers.
Additionally, passengers will receive email instructions on how to submit additional compensation requests for review. Our primary focus remains to ensure that all passengers reach their final destination safely and with minimal further delay. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.”
