Police investigate several similar Kitchener and North Dumfries home break-ins

Regional Police are investigating six similar break-ins into homes in Kitchener and North Dumfries, and reminding all homeowners to keep their guard up.
Police say in each case, since early December, a suspect – or suspects – gained access through a rear window of the home, or through the patio doors.
And most of the homes back onto large open green spaces, with no one home at the time of the break-in.
Once inside, the thieves mostly stole money and jewelry.
Homes in multiple neighbourhoods have been hit: around Clydebank Drive and Gore Road in North Dumfries; on Westgate Walk and Maple Hill Drive in Kitchener, both beside the Westmount Golf & Country Club; on Edgewater Crescent in Kitchener, near the Grand River; and most recently around Pennsylvania Drive and Deer Ridge Drive in Kitchener, also near the river.
That last break-in was on the evening of December 30.
Investigators want to hear from anyone with information about these break-ins.

In the meantime, police have sent out this list of reminders to all home owners:
Lock windows and doors, including garage doors, even when home.
Ensure valuables are secured in a locked location, such as a safe.
Consider installing a surveillance/security system, which can remotely monitor the front, rear, and inside of the residence.
Keep some lighting on when leaving the residence unoccupied.
Report any suspicious activity or individuals to police immediately.
