Failure to remain crash under investigation in Kitchener

A police cruiser remains on scene after a collision in the Sportsworld Drive and Highway 8 area of Kitchener.

Regional police continue to investigate following a crash that downed a traffic light in Kitchener.

Crews responded to the area of Sportsworld Drive and Highway 8 around 1 a.m. on Tuesday for reports of that crash.

According to police, the motorist involved in that collision failed to remain on scene.

The collision toppled a traffic light pole crossing lanes of Sportsworld Drive, temporarily blocking traffic until the city was able to clear it.

An initial investigation and review of nearby cameras determined a transport truck struck the traffic light.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
