Dominating 19-goal weekend for the Kitchener Rangers with wins against Barrie and Windsor

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A hot weekend for the now 5-2 Kitchener Rangers, with an 8-0 win over Barrie on Friday and 11-2 stomping of Windsor Sunday.

CityNews Kitchener Colour Commentator Paul Fixter notes, this team is exceeding expectations with three Kitchener Rangers on the top of the OHL scoring leaderboard.

This includes Adrian Misaljevic, Carson Rehkopf, Hunter Brzustewicz.

“Misaljevic we know is on a mission, he said as much after the game. I think all the players are on a mission, they are on mission to prove we are a good team. A lot of people have brought up last year’s start and they’re saying, ‘hey, lets forget about last year and focus on this year,’ and the focus on this year has been very positive.”

Misaljevic started the high-scoring match on Sunday, netting a goal just 23 seconds into the first period.

“Windsor was never in the game, Kitchener dominated from start to finish, in every facet, other than the power play, because they didn’t get any power play chances, they did what they had to do, I give all the credit in the world for keeping them focused,” adds Fixter.

The East Avenue Blue head to the Meridian Centre in St Catherines next. They take on the Ice Dogs on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The pre-game on CityNews Kitchener begins at 6:35 p.m.
