Ray of Hope reducing hours of community centre

Ray of Hope will be reducing the hours of operation for its community centre and marketplace.

The news was sent to newsletter subscribers Tuesday morning from Ray of Hope’s chief executive officer (CEO), Tonya Verburg.

The organization said due to the ongoing economic challenges including an increase in demand of services as well as a decrease in donations, the organization has made the difficult decision to reduce the hours of operation.

“We need to adjust our hours to match our budget,” said Verburg in the letter. “More people are needing our services and fewer people are able to donate.”

The letter goes on to say that they hope these measures are temporary and will review their hours every quarter based on income and expenses. It hopes to resume regular hours as soon as possible.

There will be two meals a day being served and a lunch starting earlier.

The hours will be changing Sept. 17 and can be found here.

For those who are looking to help, the organization said you can sign up as a monthly donor or making a one-time donation.

“Our prayer is that people will give so generously this Thanksgiving season, that we’ll be able to open up to full time hours again,” the statement read. “The Ray of Hope Community Centre replies donations to meet the needs of those living in poverty in KW.”
