Neuron Mobility adds areas for e-bike riding in region

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The company that operates the orange e-bikes seen zipping all over Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge is already expanding its services.

Neuron Mobility says their bikes have been rented and driven more than 225,000 kilometres since they came to Waterloo Region on April 15.

Based on their data, the average trip on a Neuron bike was 2.5 kilometres, lasting 17 minutes.

The company says this shows the e-bikes are being used for short trips around the city.

Neuron says the most popular places for riders to start and end their trips are: King and University in Waterloo, and Victoria Street at Waterloo Street, which is just one street east of King.

Neuron says the bike service has been expanded to the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, Conestoga College in Waterloo, and Belmont Village in Kitchener.

And thanks to a recent approval by the City of Kitchener, the bikes are allowed now on multi-use trails, with a speed limit at 15 km/h.
