Severe thunderstorm watches and warnings ended for Waterloo Region

Environment Canada has ended a severe thunderstorm warning and watch for Waterloo Region and surrounding area.

The weather agency issued the watch Thursday morning and the warning on Thursday afternoon.

Environment Canada said Thursday’s weather was capable of producing strong wind gusts of up to 100 km/h, with hail up to the size of a golf ball beginning in the afternoon and carrying into the evening.

They said between 30-50 millimetres (mm) of rain was expected, with a risk of a tornado.
