Portion of Church Street in Elmira to fully close for several weeks

Road reconstruction along Church Street in Elmira will continue this month, and starting on Monday, July 24, will see a full closure in place from Riverside Drive to George Street until September.

This will greatly impact commuters looking to head into the Elmira area, via Northfield Drive East and Line 86.

The Bolender Park Splash pad will still be accessible during this time, through the George Street entrance.

The full closure of the 270 metre section of roadway, is all part of a two-year reconstruction project.

We are into year two, with work along Church Street East between Arthur Street and Duke Street handled in 2022.

Over the next several weeks, crews will focus on underground servicing, road reconstruction, new sidewalk installation and bridge rehabilitation work between Duke Street and just east of Spruce Lane.

The plan was approved by both the Township of Woolwich and Regional Councils back in fall 2018.
