Forty local charities selected for Waterloo Region Community Fund grants

The Waterloo Region Community Foundation has made a big announcement regarding grants for local charities.
About $1 million will be spread across 40 different organizations within the region, all with initiatives linked to affordable housing and climate change.
Chief executive officer (CEO) and president of the Waterloo Region Community Foundation, Eric Avner, said that the money will go toward the most pressing needs in our community.
“Donations from thousands of individuals and organizations have built the community funds over the years, with the trust and expectation we address critical issues in Waterloo Region,” said Avner. “Thanks to our volunteer committee comprised of local residents who review grant applications and recommend how these funds will be distributed, we continue this tradition of reinvesting in our communities.”
The Waterloo Region Community Foundation is able to provide these grants through the help of the Cambridge and North Dumfries Community Funds as well as the Trinity United Church Legacy Fund.
