By Mark Douglas

Charges have been laid in connection with a fatal hit and run near Owen Sound that took the life of a Kitchener man.

It was back on March 25, around 1:00, when Grey County OPP were called for a pedestrian/vehicle collision on Story Book Park Road, just south of Owen Sound.

Officers found a 44-year-old man who died.

The driver and vehicle that hit the victim were nowhere to be found.

The OPP have now laid charges in this case against 32-year-old Dearl Vessie from West Grey.

Earlier information from Grey County OPP listed that man as wanted for an investigation, and may be evading police.

The charges are: Fail to Stop at accident resulting in death; Dangerous Operation Causing Death; Operation while Prohibited; and Food and Lodging Fraud.

A statement from the OPP does not specify a first court date for Vessie.
