WRPS launch Sixth Annual Backpack Challenge

School may have just wrapped up but Waterloo Regional Police are already looking ahead to September, launching their Sixth Annual Backpack Challenge.

It’s called the “Backpack Challenge” but, police are collecting numerous items that can help children in need, get back in the classroom, hassle free.

This includes new lunch bags, school supplies, or gift cards can be dropped off at any police division in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.

WRPS Police Chief Mark Crowell says, “Heading back to class is an exciting time for many and the Backpack Challenge helps to ensure that families in need have one less thing to worry about.”

Since the campaign was launched, more than 10,000 backpacks have been collected, with thousands of dollars in gift cards and school supplies donated.

You have until August 18 to make a donation.
