Environment Canada issues heat warning for Kitchener-Waterloo

A heat wave is expected through Kitchener-Waterloo over the next few days.

Environment Canada issued a heat wave warning  saying maximum temperatures could reach into high twenties and into the low thirties over the next few days.

The weather agency said “a two or three day hot and humid event for most areas are expected to begin on Tuesday (July 4).”

“Areas near the lakes could be slightly cooler than regions further inland,” Environment Canada said. “These hot and humid conditions will begin to end from west to east Wednesday night.”

On Tuesday, July 4, Environment Canada said the temperature in Ottawa will be a high of 29 C and a low of 19. With the humidex, it could feel as high as 36 C.

On Wednesday, July 5, the weather agency expects the high to be 30 C and a low of of 19, while on Thursday, July 6, the temperature is expected to reach a high of 26 C and a low of 14 C.

“Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category,” said Environment Canada.
