Grand River Transit (GRT) riders can expect a slight bump in the price of their fares beginning next month.
Approved during the 2023 budget process, the region’s transit provider will increase fares by an average of 2.5 per cent beginning on July 1.
In a release, GRT said the change will be rolled out to help meet the “rising cost of operating transit” with hopes of growing the network and encouraging greater ridership.
In terms of how the increase breaks down, those paying cash fare or single ticket from the vending machine can expect an increase of 25 cents, to $3.75.
Stored value payments will increase to $2.98, and monthly passes will see a two-dollar increase to $92.
Those that purchase their July monthly pass ahead of time will pay the June rate.
