Jurors selected in Ager Hasan murder trial

Ager Hasan’s murder trial will continue Thursday morning after 14 jurors and two alternates were selected.

A court official confirmed to CityNews 570 that the jurors would be returning to the courthouse on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Hasan is facing a second-degree murder charge in the stabbing death of his former girlfriend, Melinda Vasilije in Kitchener in April of 2017.

The trial had been delayed several times including in April of 2022 when Hasan fired his lawyer.

Hasan who is now 30 years old is from Hamilton.

An arrest warrant was issued for him in 2017, and months later he was taken into custody in Texas by members of the U.S. Secret Service.

He was then extradited to Canada in 2018.
