Waterloo Regional Police are warning of a wire theft scheme.
In the last three weeks, 11 local businesses have been targeted for what police are calling ‘large-scale’ wire thefts.
The latest theft incident happened last Thursday in Cambridge as over 20 rolls of industrial wire were reportedly stolen from the Cherry Blossom Road area.
Investigators believe those involved are part of a coordinated operation in southern Ontario that has seen businesses in Waterloo Region broken into, as well as those in Guelph, Woodstock, York Region, and Durham Region.
The investigation is ongoing and police are encouraging relevant business owners to take precautions to help prevent break and enters and thefts.
