Rangers serve 4 goals to Owen Sound in Holiday Game win

The East Avenue Blue were able to unwrap an early Christmas gift last night, serving up four goals against the Owen Sound Attack and coming out with a 4-1 win in the team’s big Holiday Game.
The Rangers commanded the game early, scoring two goals in the first period by the likes of Christian Humphreys and Cameron Arquette. The team would hold that lead throughout the course of the game.
Scoring opportunities presented in each period for the Rangers, with Jakub Chromiak and Luca Romano jumping into the score sheet as well.
“We had four lines working hard, winning battles,” Head Coach Jussi Ahokas said following the game. “We defended well, didn’t give much. For two periods, I thought we played really well; we could have even scored a little bit more, but I’ll take a 4-1 win any day.”
While it marked the final game before the holiday break, it also marked Forward Dylan Edwards’ first game as a Blueshirt after being traded from the Erie Otters earlier in the week.
“It’s awesome,” Edwards said.” Obviously, you come here and you see the building, see the history the team has. To be a part of that is pretty special, and I’m looking forward to it.”
The win means the Rangers will enter the holiday break leading in the Midwest Division, but Ahokas said he still has his sights set a bit higher before the season comes to a close.
“We’re not in first place in the league; that would be a different story,” Ahokas said. “It’s okay, we’re okay, and we’re in a good spot for the last 34 [games].”
The team is now set to enjoy the holiday break. They’ll return home to the Kitchener Aud to welcome in Edwards’ former team, the Erie Otters, to town on Sunday Dec. 28.
