Rangers look to sweep Spitfires series without Pinelli

It’s official.

Kitchener Rangers Captain Francesco Pinelli is out for three games.

The decision comes after Pinelli made a blindside hit against Windsor Spitfires forward Oliver Peer just two minutes and twenty seconds into the first period of Tuesday night’s game.

Peer ended up falling on to the ice, was walked to the dressing room and suffered a head injury.

The Rangers captain was slapped with a five minute major and a game misconduct, and originally just a one game suspension.

Pinelli is not the only Ontario Hockey League captain to either be suspended or face a game ejection during the 2023 playoff season.

Barrie’s Brandt Clarke, Sarnia’s Nolan Dillingham and Owen Sound’s Colby Barlow have also been removed from the rink in some capacity.

The Rangers hold a three nothing lead in the series against the Spitfires as they head into game four tonight with fourth line forward Trent Swick filling in as captain.
