As 2022 winds down, we are looking back at the most popular feature stories of the year.

While she didn't win, Stacey Kay made it to the final of Canada's Got Talent.

A Cambridge resident was able to wow the audience and judges on the most recent episode of Canada's Got Talent.

Stacey Kay did a cover of “Lady Marmalade”.

It wasn't her first crack at a televised talent show. She was eliminated from the United States version of the show several years ago, with current Canada's Got Talent judge Howie Mandel playing a part in that.

“The last time I saw Howie Mandel he cut me from the show. So are we going to have an awkward experience? I don't know?” Kay said before her performance.

After Kay's performance Tuesday, Mandel admitted he made a mistake.

“Number one … I'm an idiot (laughter from judges). But I am also brilliant, because of me being such an idiot, you are here tonight!” Mandel said. “And I'm telling you, the best things are worth waiting for … it has been four maybe five years, this was worth it! This was brilliant, you blew the roof off! Let's show the rest of the world what we've got and you know what we've got? We've got you!”

Kay — who is a singer, songwriter, podcast host and motivational speaker — earned a Golden Buzzer from judge Kardinal Offishall, meaning she advances to the next round.

It was also announced that Simon Cowell will join the judges panel for the two-hour finale of Canada's Got Talent on May 17. Cowell was responsible for creating the Got Talent franchise.

Canada’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Citytv. It can also be streamed anytime on Citytv+, the Citytv app, or at Citytv.com.

Rogers is the parent company of Citytv and CityNews 570.
