New website looks to abolish health care wait times

NoMoreWaitlists.net, an all-in-one services booking platform, is looking to abolish all waitlists for support services across the country.

The online platform allows people to find and book appointments with a variety of services, including doctors, specialists, daycares and natural practitioners, that do not have wait times.

Founded by Josephine Marchese in 2020, it is the only online platform in Canada with the goal of abolishing waitlists. She said businesses can register on their platform that have availability. Potential clients can use the website or the mobile app to find services near them and book appointments. Currently, the platform has over 1,400 services in 15 different categories for consumers to choose from.

“We help businesses and services that don't have an online presence or the marketing capital for online placement to reach the clients that need their services,” said Marchese on the Mike Farwell Show on Tuesday.

She adds they do that “by showcasing their businesses on a comprehensive platform with a built in booking system so clients can see their availability and book their services in one place.”

Marchese says she was inspired to create the site following difficulties finding specialized care for her father, who was diagnosed with heart disease, because of wait list times. When he died in 2019, she created NoMoreWaitlists to help other families struggling to find resources by showing available services on one website.

“When he passed away, it just hit me,” said Marchese. “It's like 'you know what there has to be a better way for families to find services.'”

Since its launch, Marchese says she has received a lot of positive feedback for those who have used the site. Those who have used the site have been able to find services within their region, while some have had to go outside their region or use online services. She said that people are “in need” of their site as wait times have gotten worse since COVID began. Online traffic has gone up on the site about 150 per cent since last year.

One of the biggest business boosts has been the over 1200 mental health care professionals that do have availability right now across Canada. Marchese said there is some difficulty in getting medical clinics to register.

The next step for the platform is to get more businesses on the platform if they have availability with no wait times. Marchese also welcomes advertisers to back them up to keep the low cost feature for the system available to businesses that use their services.
