City of Waterloo returning to in-person events

The City of Waterloo has announced the return of in-person events this spring and summer.
Events making a comeback include Movies in the Park (Waterloo Park), Open Streets, Lumen and Campfire, which will take place in Waterloo Public Square from May to October.
The rest of the details were contained in a news release:
- Open Streets (June 11): Willis Way will transform into a community event space! Come watch live performances and mural painting, explore the art market and join in on the fun and games.
- Canada Day (July 1): Be part of Waterloo’s giant community picnic. Enjoy an afternoon of music, art, activities and a drone show at dusk.
- Day of Play (August 1): Come have a Day of Play! Located along the Waterloo Park Promenade, there will be activities, games, adventures and more.
- Lumen (September 24): See public spaces in a new way while exploring the interplay of light, art, and technology in installations throughout Uptown Waterloo.
Monthly programs also taking place this summer include:
- Art Market (May to August): Browse through a wide selection of handmade items created by local artists, crafters and makers while listening to live music in Waterloo Public Square.
- Night Lights: A Pop-Up Series (May to August): Presented in partnership with Waterloo Public Library, this series of small pop-up shows around Waterloo features different activities ranging from stargazing to storytelling.
- Campfire (May to October): Bring a blanket or your favourite hoodie and head to Waterloo Public Square! Gather around the campfire for live music, games and more.
- Movies in the Park (May to September): Head to Waterloo Park to enjoy a mix of recent releases and classic films during this series, presented in partnership with Princess Cinemas, Fresh Air Films and the Beat Goes On.
