Careless driving charge laid following crash in Kitchener

No one was injured after a car crashed into a Kitchener playground Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the Pioneer Drive and Old Carriage Drive area, in the Doon neighbourhood around 5:10 p.m. after a report of a collision.

Regional police said the driver of a blue Honda allegedly lost control while exiting a parking lot on Pioneer Drive. 

The driver then entered the Southwest Optimist Sports Field and continued to the park area, hitting a park bench and playground area.

There was significant damage caused.

A 34-year-old man from Whitby is charged with careless driving.

Police are continuing to investigate.
