Chicopee will require proof of vaccination this ski-season

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Assuming Mother Nature cooperates, and provincial COVID-19 guidelines remain the same, Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort will open on December 18.

The Ontario government announced on October 28 that ski hills, province-wide, are permitted to operate at full capacity.

In the meantime, Chicopee has released its COVID-19 Operational Plan for the upcoming ski-season on its website.

In an online statement, CEO Bill Creighton said, “Chicopee is committed to offering a safe and healthy winter season, even though things will look and feel different. We will continue to work closely with Public Health to ensure the well-being of our community, following COVID-19 regulations and implementing industry best practices.”

Most notably, Chicopee will require everyone on site, aged 12 or older, to be fully vaccinated. Guests will be asked to show I.D. and proof of vaccination upon entry to the facility.

Masks will also be mandatory in all areas, and are recommended while skiing or snowboarding.

Chicopee will have a three-warning system in place for those not wearing a mask. The first and second warning will result in a punch on the violators day ticket, pass, or membership. A third warning will result in removal. Day tickets will not be reissued or refunded. Memberships, passes, cards, or lesson tags will require a meeting with the Director of Guest Experience to be reinstated.

As for pre-registration or pre-purchase, Chicopee will not require either.

Guests are encouraged to decide if they wish to ski or snowboard based on the parking lot and lift lines. Guest services will also be available to help guide decisions and provide potential wait times.

Physical distancing is required and will be monitored.

Chicopee suggests guests who are uncomfortable with crowds are encouraged to visit the resort on weekdays before 3 p.m.
