Charges laid in connection with Waterloo collision

Police have laid several charges following a collision in Waterloo, involving a car and motorcycle.

It happened just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Columbia Street West and Phillip Street.

Police say a Honda Civic, driven by a 24-year-old Waterloo man was traveling west on Columbia Street West and was preparing to make a left turn onto Phillip Street. The Honda allegedly turned directly in front of a motorcycle, being operated by a 65-year-old Waterloo man.

The rider suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital outside of the region.

The driver of the Civic faces several charges, including careless driving causing bodily harm.
