Historic rainfall hits Waterloo Region: UW

The worst of the rain looks to be behind us, but Waterloo Region and surrounding area was hit with precipitation that reached historic levels.
The UW weather station said between 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, 93.4 mm of rain fell in the region, the most ever recorded in a 24 hour period by the station.
The previous record was 91.4 mm in the 24 hour period after 3:00 a.m. on January 11, 2020.
Rob Kuhn from Environment Canada also acknowledged the large rainfall amount.
He said as of 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning, this latest system brought the region brought 86 millimetres of rain.
Starting from 9 pm Sept 21, 2021, the UW Weather Station recorded 93.4 mm in 24 hours, this is the now the highest 24 hour total ever recorded at the station. The previous was 91.4 mm starting Jan 11, 2020 at 3 am. #ONStorm @CBCKW891 @570NEWS @WR_Record
