Region of Waterloo Public Health reported 41 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.
That's a drop from Monday's figure of 62, although the overall increase was only 59 that day due to routine data alterations.
Public health also reported 20 more confirmed cases of the Delta variant of concern on Tuesday. Waterloo Region saw its first four confirmed cases of that strain back on May 26. Since then, the total has grown to 336.
There was also a new Alpha variant case confirmed, lifting that total to 3,077.
COVID-hospitalizations rose by four to 56, with 25 patients in intensive care. The active caseload in the region dropped to 457, with 50 more cases deemed resolved.
Active outbreaks rose to 19 as a new one was declared at the Marian Residence Retirement Home after one positive case.
There have been no new related deaths reported locally since Thursday, keeping that total at 262.
On Monday, Health Minister Christine Elliott tweeted that Waterloo Region recorded 69 new COVID-19 cases. There are often discrepancies between Ontario's reporting and Region of Waterloo Public Health's.
It's been previously stated that the two are using different reporting periods. The province's figure is from 1 p.m. the previous day, while the region's data is current as of midnight.
