Friday is Red Day in Waterloo Region
Posted Jun 11, 2021 11:30:00 AM.
The day is in support of St. Mary's General Hospital cardiac care.
Susan Dusick is the CEO of the St. Mary's General Hospital Foundation and tells 570 NEWS the campaign goes virtual this year but, “that doesn't mean people can't share their red, wear their red.”
She says today is about raising awareness about heart health and raising some important heart care dollars for our regional cardiac care centre.
It comes with some generous matching thanks to Manulife. Manulife is matching donations of up to $200,000 dollars.
Dusick says not only does the hospital serve as our regional cardiac care centre, it looks after other communities too – serving 28 other feeder hospitals.
Dusick says, “St. Mary's serves the largest geography of any of the cardiac centres in Ontario. We're not only caring for Waterloo Region but we're caring for so many other hearts”.
Share your red using the hash tag #RedDAYFriday.
