St. Mary's General Hospital reported an unplanned network outage on Thursday.
In an initial post online, the hospital said the outage impacted many of its technology systems – including email and online booking for the COVID-19 testing clinic.
In an update Thursday night, the hospital confirmed there was a 'cyber incident' in the early morning hours.
“As a result, we suspended access to our information technology applications while we worked to contain the incident,” said a post on the SMGH website. “Our investigation to date suggests that this incident has not affected our patient data or interfered with our patient care.”
The hospital is actively working to resolve the issue and restore its systems, and downtime procedures have been implemented.
On Monday, a spokesperson provided the following update to 570 NEWS:
“St. Mary’s teams have been working tirelessly to restore services at the hospital. Some systems, including the one used to book COVID tests online, are still unavailable at this time. Those looking to book a COVID-19 test at our Bathurst Street location are encouraged to call 519-885-9517.
We’d like to thank our staff, physicians and community for their patience as we work to restore full service. Patient services have been unaffected and we are committed to providing our patients the best care possible.”
