119 COVID cases reported Friday, one more death

There were 119 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Waterloo Region on Thursday.

118 cases were reported today, and alterations were made to previous days' tallies.

Overall, there have been 8,821 cases of the virus in the region.

One new death reported. The death toll locally is 185.

7,768 cases are considered resolved, or 88 per cent, which increased the resolved cases by 109.

Active cases went up by nine to 866.

39 people are hospitalized due to the virus – 13 are in the ICU.

There are currently 43 outbreaks in the region:

  • Stirling Heights long-term care (two cases in staff)
  • Golden Years long-term care (one case in staff)
  • Beechwood Manor Retirement Home (one case in staff)
  • Chartwell Terrace on the Square (one case in staff)
  • Chartwell Elmira Retirement Residence (42 cases in residents, 18 in staff)
  • Chartwell Bankside Retirement (one case in a resident, one in staff)
  • St. Andrew's Terrace long-term care (two cases in residents, two in staff)
  • Sunnyside Home long-term care – Laurel Creek (one case in staff)
  • Highland Place Retirement Home (ten cases in residents, seven in staff, one death)
  • Columbia Forest long-term care (12 cases in staff, one in resident)
  • Briarfield Retirement Residence (one case in a resident, three in staff)
  • Chartwell Westmount long-term care (62 cases in residents, 47 in staff, five deaths)
  • Forest Heights long-term care (five cases in staff)
  • Cambridge Country Manor (60 cases in residents, 70 in staff, 16 deaths)
  • The Village of Winston Park Retirement Home (30 in residents, 33 in staff, six deaths)
  • Luther Village on the Park Retirement Home (1 staff case)
  • Cobble Creek Retirement Home (five resident cases)
  • NEW St. Luke's Place Long-Term Care (1 staff case)
  • NEW Derbecker's Heritage House Long-Term Care (1 staff case)
  • NEW The Village at University Gates Retirement Home (1 staff case)

Meantime, the province reported 2,662 new cases on Thursday.
