Post-secondary students are feeling the pinch of COVID-19, from the restrictions of virtual learning to the stresses of final grades.
Some schools have opted to take numbered grades out of the equation, opting to hand out a credit or no credit evaluation, or CR/NCR.
At the University of Waterloo, there's opposition to a broad-based change to this, with the school citing concerns over fairness.
But the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) is pushing for students to take up the option to petition to have their grades changed to CR/NCR on an individual basis, something the WUSA says the school is open to.
“Although it is a more labour-intensive process, we hope to support them in asking for appropriate accommodations and are putting structures in place to assist them through the process,” the WUSA said.
