Piller’s adding to Brantford processing plant

By Blair Adams

Waterloo-based Piller's Fine Foods will be adding 27,000 square feet onto its processing plant in Brantford.

The expansion will cost just over $19 million.

“The Brantford facility expansion will enable Piller's to meet the growing consumer demand for our premium products. It will also allow for continued innovation and further portfolio expansion in key categories.” Trent Hilpert, President of Piller's Fine Foods explained in a news release.

The existing facility, which opened in 2004, employs 130 production and office staff and the company anticipates they will be able to add 15 full-time jobs with the expansion.

Construction began in October and they expect their new addition will be ready to go by late 2021.

“We are so pleased to have a long-standing and respected employer like Piller's expand operations in our community,” added Kevin Finney, Director of Economic Development and Tourism for the City of Brantford. “We strongly support Piller's continued leadership in this important sector and their vital contribution to our local economy.”

The company's corporate headquarters, production plant and distribution centre are still located in Waterloo.

Piller's also has a facility in Arthur.
