Cybersecurity company Arctic Wolf turns into ‘unicorn’

By Phi Doan

Arctic Wolf Networks is turning heads in the world of cybersecurity, as their latest round of funding has it reaching “unicorn” status.

“Basically, what's driving our business is the idea that security is really hard, and what's happened over the years, companies have invested a lot in tools within their business,”  said Dan Deeth, Head of Communications.

The company manages network cybersecurity for their customers, with offices located in Waterloo.

Arctic Wolf recently announced that they had raised US$200 million in their Series E funding, and the company is now valued at US1.3 billion.

They also plan on moving their headquarters from Sunnyvale, California to Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Despite their headquarters being based in the U.S. he says they are fundamentally a Waterloo company.

“Waterloo is a huge part of the Arctic Wolf story. Our co-founder Kim Tremblay from Waterloo. By headcount, our office in Waterloo is actually the largest,” Deeth said.

They currently employ around 200 workers at their Waterloo offices, and with this new influx of funding, he says they plan on adding another hundred jobs by the end of 2021.

The company will be looking for people to fill positions in the research and development department, security operations and administrative roles.
